Ora French Demaree Black

Ora French Demaree Black, age 98, of Defoe, died Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Richwood in LaGrange.

She was born in Jenkins, Kentucky on March 24, 1919, and was the daughter of the late Maurice Hosmer French and Dana Holley French. She was a Homemaker a member of Defoe Christian Church.

She is survived by daughters: June Faye Demaree Mahuron of Louisville, and Barbara Ann Demaree Wells (Carl) of Pleasureville; grandchildren: Lora Ramsey (Casey) of Shelbyville, Randy Wells (Judy) of Christiansburg, Jeffrey Wells (Myra) of Salem, Indiana, and Carla Pollard (Tim) of Eminence; great-grandchildren: Jeremy Mahuron (Valerie), Matthew Baxter (Krista), Ethan Ramsey, Preston Ramsey, David Wells (Melissa), Michael Wells (Jesse), Dani Wells Jaehnigen (Richard), Andrew Pollard (Haley Bramblett), and James Pollard; one grand-daughter-in law: Charlotte Mahuron; great-great grandchildren: Jada Mahuron, Chloe Shaw, and Aeron Mahuron.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: David Demaree and Morris Black; grandson: Paul David Mahuron; great-granddaughter Sarah Mahuron-Berry; son-in law: Paul R. Mahuron; seven brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Jeffrey Wells will officiate. Interment will be in Pleasureville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 and from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral on Sunday.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Ramsey, Preston Ramsey, Aeron Mahuron, David Wells, Michael Wells, Dani Jaehnigen, Andrew Pollard, and James Pollard. Active pallbearers will be Casey Ramsey, Eddie Baxter, Jeremy Mahuron, Tim Pollard, Randy Wells, and Matthew Baxter.
