Larry Long

Larry Ray Long, age 76, of Pleasureville, died Monday, August 14, 2017 in Cumming, Georgia. He was born September 20, 1940 in Pleasureville and was the son of the late Laymond and Catherine Roberts Long. His hobbies included restoring “tinkering with” old cars, gardening, and working on the farm. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and he loved the University of Kentucky. He was a big basketball fan and loved watching UK games with his son, John. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Pleasureville Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons: Larry Russell “Rusty” Long of Butner, North Carolina, and John Michael Long (Misty) of Cumming, Georgia; one sister: Cathie Long (Gary LaFleur) of Frankfort; and three grandchildren: Tyler Russell Long, Ansley Prestyn Long, and Carson Michael Long, all of Cumming, Georgia. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Catherine Long.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville with Rev. Jerry Anderson, pastor of Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasureville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 and from 10 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth MaGruder, George Travis MaGruder, Jr., Howard Lee Byers, Orva Lee Roberts, Jr., Ira Lee Barton, John Yount, Curtis Woods, and Julian P. Roberts.
