Mary Elizabeth Carter

August 16, 1926 — July 8, 2015

Mary Elizabeth Carter, age 88 of Eminence, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville. She was born in Lockport and was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Dottie Arnold Beverly. She worked for twenty-eight years as a Teacher's Assistant at Eastern Elementary and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church, and she was a former member of Gratz Baptist Church and Lockport Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons: Andy Lee Carter (Karen) of Louisville, and Danny Carter (Mary) of Charlotte, North Carolina; five daughters: Shirley Marshall of Lockport, Carol Smither (Charlie Gist) of Eminence, Anita Ackerman (Glenn) of Sarasota, Florida, Patty Sewell (Britt) of Wesley Chapel, Florida, and Rene��_ Roberts (Ford) of Wheatley; one brother: Hillis Beverly of Lockport; twenty-one grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: J.W. Beverly and Melvin Beverly; one sister: Joyce Chisholm; and one grandchild: Louis Douglas Carter. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville with Rev. Michael Duncan and Alton Carter officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 and from noon until time of the service on Saturday. Interment will be at Pleasureville Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Eastern Elementary PTO, 6928 Bethlehem Road, Pleasureville, KY 40057. Online condolences may be expressed at sholarfuneralhome.com.
