Percy Kephart Percy Kephart, 91, New Castle, died at his home on Friday, June 22, 2012 following a long illness. A native of Pleasureville, he was the son of the late J. W. and Fannie Arnsparger Kephart. He was a life-long farmer, which was not only his livelihood but also his hobby. From 1962 through 1978, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Pioneer Production Credit Association, which later became the First Kentucky Production Credit Association and was elected chairman of the board at the end of his tenure. He was a member of the Kentucky Cattlemen's Association, International Charolais Association, Kentucky Charolais Association, Farm Bureau and a member and former deacon of the First Christian Church in New Castle. He was a Kentucky Colonel and an Honorary Commissioner of Agriculture. In addition to his parents, one sister, Glenna Kephart, two brothers, Freeman Kephart and Matthew Kephart and two nephews, James L. "Jimmie" Kephart and Kenneth E. "Kenny" Carter, Jr., preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Zola Kephart of New Castle; his daughter, Laine Kephart of Shelbyville; one sister, Zada Dowden of Pleasureville; five nieces and nephews, Joey Kephart of Pleasureville, Susan Wainscott of Louisville, Jimmie K. Dowden and Evelyn Hudson of Frankfort and David Carter of Cadiz and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Carter of Frankfort. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Sholar Funeral Home with Rev. Clayton Klingenfus presiding and prayer by Rev. Tommy Lanham. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Pleasureville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Joey Kephart, Jacob Kephart, Jimmie K. Dowden, John Kephart, Chris Hayden and David Carter. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus or to the First Christian Church of New Castle. Arrangements were entrusted to Sholar Funeral Home.
