Ruth Lee (Nee Leathers) Martin

Ruth (nee Leathers) Martin, age 90, of Union City, Indiana and a former resident of Pleasureville, Kentucky passed peacefully on April 25, 2015. Born in Anderson County, Kentucky on August 31, 1924, Ruth was the daughter of the late J. Felix and Anna (nee Cook) Leathers. In Louisville, KY on August 31, 1945, Ruth and Mathew Martin were married; they were married sixty-two years. She enjoyed many happy years being a homemaker, farmer, avid gardener, and a creative participant of most types of needlework. Her hands were never idle. She was an active member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church and the Disciples Woman's Ministries (DWM) and a former Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) leader. Also, Ruth was a member of the Henry County DAV and the American Ex-Prisoners of War organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew S. Martin; brother, Cecil Leathers; and sisters-in-law, Nadine Leathers and Mazie Leathers. Ruth is survived by her children: John Thurston (Jeanne) Martin and Barbara Ruth (Scott) Marker; brothers: Paul (Viola) Leathers and Ralph Leathers; grandchildren: Christopher Marker, Dana (Daniel) Portillo, Jeffrey (Kristin) Martin, and Kathryn Martin; great-grandchildren: Cody Marker, Benjamin Marker, Matthew Portillo, Tyler Martin, and Blake Martin, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Point Pleasant Christian Church, 4742 South Property Road, Eminence, Kentucky 40019 on April 27, 2015 from 4:30 to 7:30pm, and from 9 a.m. until time of services on April 28, 2015. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00am on April 28, 2015 at Point Pleasant Christian Church. Rev. Tammie Lanham, pastor at Point Pleasant Christian Church, will officiate. Interment will be at Pleasureville Cemetery, Pleasureville, Kentucky. Pallbearers are Christopher Marker, Jeffrey Martin, Cody Marker, Earl Holmes, Gilbert Waldman, and Leonard Yount. Honorary Pallbearers: nephews, friends, and neighbors of the greater Point Pleasant community. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of gifts to the Point Pleasant Christian Church, the United Service Organization, or Hospice.
